Eucharistic Adoration at St. Andrew’s takes place in the Main Church. Before entering the church, please sign-in in the Eucharistic Adorers sign-in book on the cabinet next to the main entrance.
Founding: St. Andrews Eucharistic Adoration Society was founded on Corpus Christi Sunday, 1999 at the direction of Monsieur Joseph Mancuso in the small side room where Morning Star Gift Shop is located. Eucharistic Adoration began on August 12th, 1999.
The Founding Mission: to provide all parishioners the opportunity to “Spend an Hour with Jesus” each week. Members of the Eucharistic Adoration Society have committed to spend time before the Blessed Sacrament and hold in prayer our fellow parishioners and all others in need of prayer. Each registered participant has pledged to spend a certain hour of their choosing, to pray, meditate, worship, adore and intercede for others in the “Presence of the Lord.” Our Adoration Library was established in January 2000 to provide our members with materials to enrich their faith and assist them in prayer. All members are eligible to borrow books, videos, and tapes for use in Eucharistic Adoration or to take home for further learning and enjoyment by signing for the materials they wish to borrow.
Jubilee Pilgrimage Site: St. Andrew’s Eucharistic Adoration Chapel received the distinction of being an official Jubilee Pilgrimage site for the year 2000. We continue to encourage all parishioners to come to “Jesus” present in the Eucharist. To make a good confession of all Mortal and Venial sins. Attend mass and receive “Our Lord” in the Eucharist. To pray for our Holy Father and for vocations and to join our Eucharistic Adoration Society.
The Eucharist is Christ Real Presence!
“at the moment of consecration” (CCC 1377), the bread and wine “become Christ’s body and blood” (CCC 1333). The Eucharist is “the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained” (CCC 1374).
Eucharistic Adoration can draw adorers into spiritual communion with Our Lord.
As St. John Paul II explained, “It is by taking time out to be with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament that this relationship with Our Lord begins to increase and grow and blossom. Perpetual Adoration builds community. The Eucharist is the sacrament of unity, Jesus unifying his people. Through the intimacy of quiet prayer with Jesus, one experiences the personal love of the Savior and grasps the reality that we are all one with the whole Body of Christ.”
Exposition is the displaying, with proper solemnity, of the Blessed Sacrament to the faithful outside the tabernacle for public veneration and adoration.
Benediction is the concluding blessing rite of the Blessed Sacrament during which the Sacred Host is reposed into the tabernacle. Benediction includes a hymn, incense, a closing prayer, and Eucharistic Blessing (Jesus blessing you).
