Unfortunately, our culture has lost sight of the gift of Sundays. Instead of being a day to rest in the love of Jesus and enjoy time with family and friends, Sundays have become a day to get caught up on chores and get ready for the week ahead, leaving us exhausted as we start a new week.
Would you like for life to slow down? Would you like to take back Sundays as a weekly Divine Day of Vacation, as past generations experienced? Would you like to take back your Sundays and experience them as God intended? It is a choice, and the choice is yours. What steps can you take this week to allow you to take advantage of your Divine Day of Vacation this Sunday?

Does getting to Mass sometimes get squeezed out of your Sundays by other priorities? What message does missing Mass send to the children in your life and how will missing Mass influence their decision about putting Jesus FIRST in their life, or including Him at all?
Attending Sunday Mass is so much more than an obligation. It is an opportunity. An opportunity to take the worries, struggles and burdens of your and give them to Jesus. It is an opportunity to be spiritually healed of wounds that have accumulated over the week and to be renewed for the week ahead. It is an opportunity to visit with old friends or make new ones and to encourage one another.
If attending Mass has become hit-and-miss for you, reassess the other priorities that get in your way of putting Jesus 1st on Sunday. Come up with a plan to take back your Sunday and experience the peace and love of Jesus at Mass, not as an obligation, but as an opportunity. Plan ahead to get chores out of the way on Saturday or Monday. Demonstrate to the children in your life the importance of putting Jesus first and not allow the lesser things, the distractions of the world, to become more important than your authentic happiness and everlasting salvation.

In May of 2023 the US Surgeon General declared loneliness as an epidemic and crisis. One of the biggest reasons for loneliness is that society has lost sight of one of the primary purposes of Sundays. A day to gather with family and friends. Fifty years ago, Sundays gave everyone the invitation to drop in on friends for a visit. But now, everyone seems so busy that dropping in for a visit is viewed as an imposition. Even on Sundays. How unfortunate.
Would you like to take back Sundays as they were enjoyed by generations past? Start with freeing up your Sundays by committing to doing all your chores on Saturday letting them wait until Monday. Next, make a list of friends you would like to reconnect with and, each week, invite them over for an afternoon slice of pie or a game of cards. Reach out to them a phone call or a video call. Let them know that on Sundays, the welcome mat is always out, and they are welcome to drop by. Think of all the friends you will enjoy over the course of a year and how grateful they will be for making them feel appreciated.
