"There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone."
1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Looking for a new way to get involved in Parish Life? We have a wonderful team of volunteers who assist with each Mass. We are looking for more committed ministers for our four Sunday Liturgies! Mass Coordinators, Sacristans, Lectors, Servers, Hospitality Ministers, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Cantors, and Accompanists are needed. Also, if you have been a part of Liturgical Ministries in the past and need to update your volunteer information (add, change, or remove), please contact Ginny Trischler at rctvlt64@sbcglobal.net.
Hospitality Ministers
St. Andrew the Apostle takes great pride in offering a warm sense of hospitality. The men, women, boys and girls who greet friends and visitors alike as we enter and take leave of this holy place ‘set the stage’ for all that follows.
Servers and Sacristans
Servers and Sacristans are responsible for preparing the table for worship and assisting the priest or deacon with vessels, books, incense or any of the multitude of items we use at worship. The ministry of server is open to boys and girls fifth grade and older. Training is provided.
The ministry of sacristan is for adults and includes careful tracking of the number of communicants at each mass to insure that “all will be fed”. They also serve as Eucharistic ministers when we need an extra hand. In addition, many assist at funerals.
Lectors
The lector is, in essence, the voice of God. He or she is charged with the task of proclaiming with dignity and reverence the sacred scripture. Initial training and a yearly update are provided for all lectors.
Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister
The Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister is charged with the task of sharing the Body of Christ at Mass. Individuals are asked to commit to a Mass time and then are scheduled to serve once a month. Basic requirements: you must be 21 years of age, confirmed, and a practicing Catholic.
Altar & Rosary Society
Every woman in the parish is invited to participate in the Altar & Rosary Society. We assist with decorating and cleaning the church, making vestments, providing funeral meals, and more – there are a multitude of opportunities to share your gifts and become involved.
Music Ministry
St. Andrew the Apostle has a wonderful music ministry program focused on leading the congregation in beautiful, liturgically-minded, prayerful music. In addition to gifted cantors and accompanists we have a fantastic adult and youth choir. The adult choir sings once a month at the 4:30pm Saturday and 10:30am Sunday Mass. The youth choir sing on the First Sunday of the month at the 10:30am Mass. For more information or to participate, please don’t hesitate to contact Susan Campagna at 816-454-1489
